This requirement is grounded in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, which obligates employers to maintain a safe working environment. Under the Construction Regulations 2014, every principal contractor and contractor must compile a site-specific safety file before work begins, covering policies, legal appointments, risk assessments, method statements, emergency procedures, training records, and audits — protecting workers, reducing liability, and ensuring full legal compliance throughout every project.
Site audits
Safety audits assess workplace practices against the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, identifying risks and gaps in compliance.
